Real Art Ways
presents
"BassDrumBone"

Friday, June, 8:30pm

Hartford, CT— Real Art Ways presents BassDrumBone, a legendary jazz ensemble with musicians Mark Helias, Gerry Hemmingway and Ray Anderson, on Friday, June 8, at 8:30pm. For more information, call 232.1006 or visit www.realartways.org. Admission is $10/$8 for Real Art Ways members.

Mark Helias: Bass
Gerry Hemingway: Drums
Ray Anderson: Trombone

BassDrumBone is a trio with an unusual instrumentation and a unique sound. A true collective, their music combines three distinct compositional and improvisational approaches and an exceptional musical rapport. Over the thirty years they have played together they have developed an uncanny sense of communication that allows for very free and disciplined collectivity regardless of the compositional form being explored.

Mark Helias, Gerry Hemingway and Ray Anderson began performing as a trio in the fall of 1977. After 1988 the group went into dormancy while all three of its members pursued their own individual groups and projects. In the fall of 1993 BassDrumBone was renewed for a tour in Europe and never sounded better. They are currently celebrating their 30th year as a trio.
