Insight
"
Insight will blow any band off the stage!"--Eddie Palmieri,
Latin Jazz Legend
Founded in Hartford, Insight has been recognized as one of the
hottest young Latin jazz groups in the United States by critics
and musicians
alike. The group’s instrumentation consists of a horn section:
trumpet, alto and tenor saxophones, and a rhythm section which
includes tumbadoras, trap drum set, miscellaneous percussion, piano
and upright
bass.
They have performed with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, Danilo
Perez, Andy Gonzalez, David Valentine, Tito Puente, Nelson Gonzalez,
John
Patittucci, Steve Davis, David Sanchez and even the Hartford Symphony
Orchestra.
Nancy Drew – More Today Than Yesterday
Nancy Drew pushes past the territories of appropriation and reverence,
and transforms referenced works into scintillating, somewhat rowdy
paintings that are very much her own-- sparkling, sometimes fuzzy-soft,
renditions of the modern masters, such as Jackson Pollock and Jasper
Johns, among others. Drew's works are made new and fresh, through
the use of unique materials such as glitter, flocking and Swarovski
crystals. The flashiness of the works gives them a contemporary
punch, in contrast to the serious stature of the original works
on which
she riffs. The exhibit will run from August 18 – September
12, 2005.
