Café Staff
Real Art Ways is currently accepting applications for part time employment at our café. Prospective employees should possess some employment history in café or restaurant service. Responsibilities include opening and closing duties, handling cash, preparing coffee drinks, and answering questions regarding Real Art Ways and the surrounding area. Summer Internships
Real Art Ways, a 32-year-old alternative arts center, is looking for
interns. Each internship runs for approximately 10-12 weeks at a minimum of
12 hours/week and requires interns to gallery attend once a month. As all
Real Art Ways internships are unpaid, we seek interns who are eligible for
college credit.
ParkArt Intern
Real Art Ways is looking for an intern to help our ParkArt coordinator run this seven-week program.
The ParkArt program is for children ages 5-14 and meets in Day Park (across the street from Real Art Ways). It runs from July 7th to August 14th, Monday – Thursday from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. ParkArt is an informal, drop-in art program that serves the children in the Parkville neighborhood.
Applicants should be well-organized, energetic and have experience working with children and young adults. Responsibilities include: aiding the ParkArt Coordinator with planning activities and projects, purchasing supplies, and bringing in visiting artists and musicians.

Visual Arts Coordinator

Job Description
The Visual Arts Coordinator reports to the Director of Visual Arts and assists with the organization and implementation of Visual Arts programming. Responsibilities range from coordinating exhibitions to maintaining all Visual Arts files; because of this scope, the job demands a high level of accuracy and speed, along with integrity, ingenuity, and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks. A BA in Visual Arts, Arts Administration, Museum Studies or Art History is preferred.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting the Director of Visual Arts.
- Assisting with general administrative work, updating the schedule of Visual Arts programs and exhibitions.
- Assisting with the implementation of exhibition-related education programs for adults and families; scheduling and documenting artist talks, presentations and other exhibition related events.
- Liaising with artists, galleries and curators; maintaining and updating artists and exhibition files, databases and mailing lists; archiving images and other artist related material; screening and cataloging artist submissions, including submissions for juried shows.
- Assisting in the promotion/marketing of Visual Arts programming; coordinating the mailing of gallery cards and exhibition announcements.
- Arranging transportation of artwork to and from Real Art Ways, both nationally and internationally; preparing wall labels, information binders and price lists for each exhibition.
- Recruiting and supervising qualified interns/volunteers to support the Visual Arts objectives; scheduling and supervising the cleaning and maintenance of the galleries.
Requirements:
Candidates should have a minimum of one-year gallery/museum experience (internships excluded). Applicants must be organized, have the ability to prioritize efficiently, and must posses good written and verbal communication skills. All applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Mac systems and File Maker Pro is equally important. Knowledge of basic gallery procedures, Adobe Photoshop, graphic design, and website maintenance are a plus.
