Tonight's exhibition opening: “The Parlor Paintings,” by emerging artist, Margaret Murphy. Murphy paints "portraits" of mass-produced female figurines. She finds the figurines at dollar stores, eBay, etc. She discovered that the figurines that represented traditional female values were blonde haired and that "bad girls" were dark haired. If you're familiar with Real Art Ways, you'll recognize immediately our tendancy to staff the organization with "bad girls" by Murphy's observation...
On view in our Main Gallery: Paintings by Sam McKinniss, Video/Installation work by David Politzer, and sculptures by Corinne Rae Beardsley.
Music? Of course.
